These are some of the outreach and service projects we support:
Meals on Wheels – We serve as the host site for Meals on Wheels in Charles City County. Our parish house serves as a distribution point for the drivers who deliver the meals. By providing nutritious food and daily contact, Meals on Wheels empowers seniors to live in their own homes.
No Greater Love – No Greater Love is an association of churches in the County of many denominations who gather to make home repairs for people who need help.
Santa for Kids! Every year we coordinate with the Charles City Department of Social Services to identify children in the county who otherwise might not receive gifts for Christmas and we “adopt” them and provide gifts to them.
Needle Craft Ministry-Provide needle crafted objects created with love, concern, and petitions for God’s love to be given to people in distress or sickness. The prayer shawl ministry is part of this ministry. We are expanding the ministry to include cross stitch, crochet, and needlepoint. Training on these crafts will also be included. New efforts include cross stitch baptismal bibs, crochet and cross stitch warrior patches, crafted prayer bookmarks. We are always looking for things to expand this ministry.
Make A Difference (M.A.D.) for Seniors! This outreach project involves spreading the word about Adult Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation as well as meeting other needs for adults in need in our community. We work with the Adult Services workers at the Charles City Department of Social Services in order to coordinate the projects. Some of the projects included collecting “Soup for Seniors,” collecting items for and delivering 25 “Storm Survival Kits for Seniors,” collecting food throughout the summer, and to serve as “Santa for Seniors.”
Thanksgiving Food Baskets-Every year we collect food and money and put together wonderful food baskets for those who need a little extra care. The baskets are provided to the Charles City Department of Social Services to distribute to the community.
Alcoholics Anonymous – We provide meeting space for an AA group on Friday nights at 7 pm.
Mission Trips – Westover has undertaken several short term mission trips in the last few years, for both youth and adults. Members have been to the Dominican Republic, the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana, Hurricane Katrina relief at Camp Care in Mississippi and Appalachian Outreach.
