BAPTISM

Westover Church welcomes people of all ages to receive the sacrament of Holy Baptism. The Book of Common Prayer describes it best: “Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.”

Baptism is a joyful recognition that each of us is “a beloved child of God.” If you are interested in participating in this sacrament for yourself or on behalf of a child, we invite you to call the church and speak to the Rector who will meet with you to discuss plans for the Sacrament.

A Prayer for the Newly Baptized

Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon these your servants the forgiveness of sin, and have raised them to the new life of grace. Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen.
